 LATE NIGHT RADIO

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS

Ageless in the dark,  a young woman is enthralled

by the paranormal as if it was next to her in bed. 

She longs for a ghost story of her own, some strange thing to mull over

in her insomniac hours.  The radio says, “They’re coming for all of us in the dark. 

They’ll come in their silver cylinders, their silver suits. Their huge black eyes will

stare through us.” Ageless in the dark, she hollows out a space in her heart

for these great-eyed creatures. They are far from sleep as she is, intrigued by dark

as she is, foreign as she is and still they are untroubled.  She is not.  The radio

ups it’s own volume. “In just a minute you’ll hear the sounds of an actual UFO

landing and the cries of those watching it.”  She waits through a commercial and

another and still another, waiting for sounds she’ll never hear.
